A web engineer, and the road that got him here.
The unglamorous parts are what I'm proud of. Anyone can launch a theme. Fewer people can maintain one well for two years across three brand redesigns and a Shark Tank appearance.
I'm Sajeel Shafqat — a Shopify developer based in Pakistan, working with DTC brands and agencies internationally. The practice is five years deep in Liquid and theme work, and the people I've worked with span Sweet July, The Nutr, Natural Farm Pet, Vitaboom, Ji Mei Flower, and a recent ten-month stretch as a frontend developer at Coalition Technologies in the US.
What I do well is the careful, daily work of Shopify — the kind of work that doesn't make a portfolio thumbnail but keeps a real store earning while the brand focuses on what it sells. Bundle templates, custom sections, performance passes, app integrations, the slow polish of an Online Store 2.0 theme that holds up under merchant edits. Increasingly, I do greenfield theme builds too — ThriveHive and SOSsign at Coalition were the first round of those.

Working independently. Currently part of the team building opusresume.com — a portfolio-creation service for LinkedIn professionals — and open to direct Shopify development and scraping engagements alongside that.
Lately I've been pairing the senior fundamentals with AI-augmented dev — Claude Code, Cursor, MCP integrations, prompt engineering in VS Code — to compress timelines without giving up on quality. The skill isn't "prompting an LLM." It's knowing what to ship when the agent gets it wrong.
Aug 2025 — Recent Coalition Technologies · Front End Developer LA-based e-commerce agency · remote from Pakistan
Title was Front End Developer; the actual work was Shopify theme building at production pace. PSD and Figma to pixel-perfect responsive themes. Custom sections, blocks, and components. Storefront API, Admin API, Metafields, Metaobjects, webhooks. Platform migrations from WordPress, Magento, and BigCommerce into Shopify.
The big one: SOSsign and ThriveHive — two products with full theme redesigns delivered inside a one-month window. The project's Digital Producer flagged SOS as moving unusually fast for that scope.
Jan 2022 — Aug 2025 Teknologics, LLC · Lead Shopify Developer Three and a half years on the major accounts
Sweet July (1.5 years — 93% sales lift from Dec 2022 to Jan 2024). The Nutr (2 years — built the bundle/subscription backend ReCharge's own support team later asked me to walk them through; the store appeared on Shark Tank USA). Natural Farm Pet (2 years — 141% sales lift, 153% lift in fulfilled orders). Vitaboom build (subscriptions, filters, collection templates). Plus Rival Performance Co, Dogfy, Abingdonco.
Also the technical representative in business proposals — translating client briefs into scoped deliverables.
Feb 2022 — Aug 2025 Translators & Writers · Stakeholder & Operator Independent venture, run in parallel
Stakeholder and operator at an independent translation and writing service collaborating with international translators on multilingual content delivery. Run in parallel with the agency work. Hands on both the platform and the day-to-day business — sales, partnerships, contractor coordination.
Jan 2021 — Sept 2023 Eweberinc · Software Engineer Where the scraping practice matured
Nearly three years. Shopify (JM Floral, Ji Mei Flower), WordPress, Magento 2 (Taslem), OpenCart (Ciaocart), plus the production PHP and JavaScript scrapers that became the second half of my practice. The agency's own custom scraping application, too.

Jan 2020 — Jan 2021 STEP NGO · IT & E-Commerce Manager + BDO Before the agency years — operator chapter
Pakistan's Special Talent Exchange Program — disability rights and economic empowerment. I established Mobi Access, STEP's online assistive devices store: WordPress platform, market visits to negotiate vendor rates, product catalog photography, supplier sourcing, sales, partnerships.
Spoke at the Equal Access mobile app launch at the National Assembly of Pakistan, 23 November 2020 — the first accessible mobile app for persons with disabilities in Pakistan. Represented STEP at NUST Job Fair 2020. Attended President House events.

2020 — 2021 · Before the agency years
Operator at STEP, Islamabad.
From January 2020 to January 2021, I worked at the Special Talent Exchange Program (STEP), a Pakistan DPO focused on rights and economic empowerment for people with disabilities. My LinkedIn says "IT & E-Commerce Manager + Business Development Officer." The actual job was operator — every role nobody else covered.
- Established Mobi Access, STEP's online store for assistive devices — designed the WordPress platform, went to local markets to negotiate vendor rates, built the product catalog with my own photography, sourced suppliers, made sales, and managed logistics.
- Created business development partnerships and vendor collaborations across the assistive devices market.
- Helped with team hiring — interviewed candidates and represented STEP at recruiting events including NUST Job Fair 2020.
- Presented at congresses and seminars including the Equal Access mobile application launch at the National Assembly of Pakistan on 23 November 2020 — the first accessible mobile application for persons with disabilities in Pakistan.
- Attended events at the President House, Islamabad as part of STEP's representation.
